Salary: MPS - UPS - £32,916 - £51,048 FTE + TLR2A allowance available for the right candidate

Working Pattern: This is a fixed term position working 1.0 FTE, 39 weeks per year until 31st August 2027  (Monday to Friday) 

Hemyock Primary School is seeking to recruit a EYFS Lead Teacher to join our team. Our popular school is situated in in the Blackdown Hills in a beautiful rural location which is within easy reach of the M5. The school enjoys extensive grounds, providing a forest school area, sports grounds, a bird hide, pond and gardening patches.

About the Role 

As a Teacher, you will deliver high‑quality teaching and learning in line with the Teachers’ Standards.  

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Planning, preparing and teaching engaging lessons tailored to pupils’ individual needs 

  • Leading by example to secure high standards of behaviour, motivation and achievement 

  • Monitoring and assessing pupil progress, using data to inform planning and target‑setting 

  • Reporting to parents and contributing to school improvement processes 

  • Creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment 

  • Working collaboratively with support staff and colleagues across the school 

  • Contributing to performance management, training, and whole‑school initiatives 

  • Upholding school values, behaviour expectations and community ethos 

What We’re Looking For 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher who can bring positivity, professionalism and a strong commitment to children’s learning.  

Essential attributes include: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an ECT 

  • Recent successful teaching experience in EYFS, KS1 or KS2 

  • Strong behaviour management skills and understanding of high‑quality teaching and learning 

  • Ability to teach pupils of all abilities and use ICT effectively in lessons 

  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills 

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective practice 

  • Ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents and the wider community 

Desirable attributes include: 

  • Experience leading a curriculum area 

  • Excellent ICT skills and ability to contribute to policy development 

  • Experience teaching across multiple primary key stages 

  • Ability to organise extra‑curricular activities
